The Vikings and Warriors softball teams were evenly matched this past weekend. South Tahoe took the first game and Whittell took the second game of a doubleheader at Lampe Park on Saturday.
South Tahoe’s Hannah Neiger and Whittell’s Amanda Harris both pitched complete games in the first of a doubleheader. At the end, South Tahoe edged Whittell 7-4.
Key Whittell RBIs came from Amanda Harris and Emily Harris. Dominique Ogilvie added a run for Whittell with a steal on home.
In the second game, Whittell edged South Tahoe 3-2. Again, Amanda Harris was on the mound for Whittell, and Emily Gardner and Hannah Niger both took a turn pitching for South Tahoe. Whittell took an early 3-0 lead in the first, with key hits from Brianna Brewer (RBI double) and Emily Harris who lined in an RBI. Brewer also stole her way to third on a past ball, and then stole home on a missed throw to third to cap the Warriors’ first-tinning tear. South Tahoe mounted a comeback in the sixth with two runs, but Amanda Harris held the Vikings’ at two for the win.
