A senior fitness class will be held Tuesdays and Fridays in the art room at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center.
The Senior Fitness Class varies in its format, but always focuses on balance, strength, aerobic conditioning and stretching. It includes elements from the Jazzercise Lite program and adapts the format to meet the needs of the current students. The class incorporates the use of weights, tubes, balls and mats. There are always variations using a chair for assistance. Students will spend time working on the concepts of posture and consistent breath work. The class always allows time to work on exercises targeted to relieve the effects of arthritis and helps prevent its further progression.
Instructor Jodi Stewart has a senior fitness certification from the National Association of Sports Medicine and is certified through Jazzercise Inc. She also has a bachelor’s degree in health science and business administration. Stewart has taught Jazzercise for six years and teachers several classes per week. She also teaches a special needs fitness class.
The class costs $2 per session and will be held from 10:45-11:30 a.m. at the senior center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
