NFL Youth Flag Football League sign ups

The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registration for the NFL Youth Flag Football League until team rosters are full. NFL Flag Football teaches boys and girls the fundamentals of football, good sportsmanship, and teamwork in a fun, less-competitive, non-contact way. Since every player is eligible to receive or carry the ball, any player on a team could score on any play. Players receive a reversible NFL flag jersey, mouthpiece, and individual award.

All games will be played on Saturdays at Stodick Park. Participants will be divided into four age groups, 5-6 coed, 7-8 coed, 9-11 coed, and 12-14 coed. Players must be at least 6 and not 15 by Sept 1. Coaches will randomly choose teams through a draft system. Spaces are limited. For additional information visit www.dcprsports.com or contact Anthony Davis, adavis@co.douglas.nv.us or the Douglas County Parks & Recreation (775) 782-9828. The league is also looking for paid officials ages 16 or older. For referee training contact Mark Waggoner, UIC 775-741-1594.

South Lake Tahoe Soccer Camp- has teamed up to host the week long “British Soccer Camp” during the week of July 8-12 at South Lake Tahoe Community Fields, Al Tahoe Blvd. The camp will run Monday through Friday and all players between the ages of 3 and 19 are eligible to sign up.

The program provides a daily regimen of foot-skills, moves, juggling, tactical practices and daily tournament play. Challenger also weaves in lessons on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship into the camper’s daily routine.

The British Soccer Camp program also provides a cultural experience for the players, highlighted in the Camp World Cup. The coaches use this daily tournament to teach the players about life, customs and traditions of other countries. The campers are asked to make up soccer chants, wear the team colors of their country, bring flags and learn as much as they can about the country they represent.

Teams are also welcome to attend and receive a week of focused instruction to prepare them for the fall season. Team Camp Rates are available.
