Pre-registered runners postmarked by Aug. 20 will pay $30, saving $10 on registration, and be guaranteed a shirt. Race-day registration opens at 8 a.m. in the Kirkwood Main Lodge and is $40 and comes with a chance to win a ski pass. The children’s run costs $10 and does not include a shirt or chance to win the ski pass.

Rolling and grinding

From snow to water, SheJumps is all about getting females involved in outdoor activities. This month, the group is focusing on water. SheJumps will hold a women’s kayak roll clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Incline Village Recreation Center pool. The rec center is located at 980 Incline Way in Incline Village, Nev.

The clinic is the perfect opportunity for beginner kayakers to learn one of the most important skills for whitewater kayaking in a safe and supportive environment. Experienced kayakers who want to sharpen their skills are also welcome. Women should bring bathing suit, goggles, nose plugs, kayak, skirt, and paddle if you have them. The event is limited to 12 participants. Please RSVP with Meghan Kelly at Meghan@shejumps.org.

Join SheJumps at the Gear and Grind Café for a women’s bike repair clinic at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. Learn how to effortlessly fix a flat, repair a broken chain, and troubleshoot brakes and gears in the middle of a ride. This all-female clinic will be tailored to the attendees’ needs and is a great way to meet fellow bike riders. A $5 donation is suggested and comes with a raffle ticket.
