Two Douglas Pop Warner football teams emerged with victories on Saturday during their Snow Bowl games in Sparks.
The Unlimited Tigers remained unbeaten with a 36-6 win against the Reno Wolfpack and the Pee Wee Tigers prevailed 45-24 against the South Tahoe Vikings in games played at Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks. The Pee Wee game was a showdown between undefeated teams.
Both Douglas teams are scheduled to move in the postseason. The Unlimited Tigers, who have scored 278 points on their way to an 8-0 season record, advance to the Best of the West event in Southern California on Dec. 7 against an opponent and at a location still to be determined.
The Pee Wee Tigers, meanwhile, advance to the Pacific Northwest Region championships and a game against the Santa Cruz Sharks this coming Saturday at Woodside High School in Woodside, Calif.
In other Snow Bowl games — the Sagebrush Empire championships — the Douglas Junior Pee Wees lost 31-6 to Reno South in a showdown between unbeaten teams, the Junior Midgets dropped an 8-6 decision to the Reno Wolfpack, and the Mity Mites lost their consolation game to the Sparks Cardinals.
The Junior Pee Wee Tigers also move on to play the Evergreen Bulldogs on Saturday in a regional game at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex in the Bay Area. The core of the Douglas squad, unbeaten as Mity Mites in 2012, has compiled a combined 18-1 record for the last two seasons.
And the Junior Midget Tigers play the Coastside Cougars on Saturday in Morgan Hill, Calif. The Tigers have lost four games this season by a combined total of 23 points.
