If you’re looking for a fun and original take on music, Elektric Voodoo is your band.

“Elektric Voodoo is a new band from San Diego that blends afrobeat, deep space blues, Latin, psychedelic and vintage rock ‘n’ roll into rhythmically charged 4-to-7-minute songs that end up being neither genre- nor era-specific,” states the band’s online biography.

“This five-piece ensemble is centered around the drums, percussion and bass as all of the songs were built on driving rhythms that are undeniably propulsive. On top of this beat, heavy foundation layers of guitars, vintage keyboards and undefinable sounds swirl and build into emotional peaks and hypnotic drones,” continues the bio.

Elektric Voodoo began with guitarist and vocalist Scott Tournet recording songs in his living room and connecting with musicians who shared a vision.

“The lyrics drift in and out, touching on a number of different emotions and moods while the common theme seems to be the push and pull between two varying entities,” states the biography.

Today, the band is comprised of Tournet, keyboardist Mark Boyce, percussionist Ty Kiernan, drummer Matt Bozzone and bassist Evan Lucas.

The group’s self-titled debut dropped in September 2016.
