Swing, jazz, Americana and more collide in the unique performance from Nevada City-based Earles of Newtown on Thursday, Dec. 28.

“Earles of Newtown is a powerhouse Americana band crafting their tight arrangements of infectious original music around early era Harlem, New Orleans and ‘hot’ jazz, along with Texas and Western Swing, creating a sound all its own called simply: Swingin’ Dixie,” states the band’s online biography.

The nine-piece group broke onto the scene in 2014 with its self-titled jazz album, and since then the band has been “shaking dance floors all over California” and “injecting energy into the swing scene in the Sacramento, Sonoma and Petaluma areas,” according to the bio.

Earles of Newtown has taken the stage with fellow North Bay groups The Crux and Royal Jelly Jive. In 2014, the eclectic ensemble was named the Best Live Band from the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.

The band performs at Crystal Bay Casino at 10 p.m. Thursday evening, and the gig is free to attend. Ramp up for New Year’s Eve bashes with this show, which is sure to bring you a good time.
