A former consultant to NASA will put the size of the universe into perspective next week.

The South Lake Tahoe branch of El Dorado County Library will host a presentation by astronomer Kevin Manning entitled “Astronomy for Everyone: Size & Scale of the Universe.”

The program is suitable for all ages and will discuss the universe, from the very small to very large.

“All programs use digital projection of a Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentation onto a screen, exciting video footage, and hands-on activities when appropriate….Following each presentation, a powerful telescope will be set up outdoors for viewing the craters on the Moon, the rings of Saturn and other beautiful objects in the night sky, weather permitting,” according to Manning’s website.

“Kevin goes to great lengths to communicate his passion for the amazing world of outer space in terms that all ages can understand,” according to his online biography. “Whether he’s lecturing, consulting, teaching people how to build telescopes or helping to build observatories, one of his favorite things to do is to share his contagious enthusiasm and knowledge of Astronomy. His love for it clearly shows up in all he does.”
