Country rocker Mark Mackay performs free gig in South Lake Tahoe
If you go ...
What: Mark Mackay
When: Saturday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m.
Where: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
At the age of 12, Mark Mackay was already fronting his own band.
He began as a classically trained pianist and ventured into playing the guitar, and now the San Francisco native and country music recording artist travels to South Shore for a benefit concert at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Singer-songwriter Mackay writes his lyrics based on life experiences and love of the open road.
“His plaintive vocal delivery, unlike today’s norm, is refreshingly unaffected, engaging the listener with its honesty. His guitar work is a potent cocktail: one part new and original, one part blues-rocker and one part country picker,” states the artist’s Facebook biography.
Mackay visits the Tahoe Basin to put on a free show that begins Saturday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. inside Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
“Country rocker Mark Mackay returns to Lake Tahoe to headline the third annual High Note Concert for the High Fives Foundation,” states a press release from the venue.
In addition to the live show, concert attendees will also experience a raffle for a signed guitar, ski equipment and other prizes.
“Special guests for the evening include pro skier and songwriter Matt Reardon, Los Angeles rock artist Alexa Melo, and local singers Jeff Connor and Karlee Shannon,” continues the release.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is located at 50 U.S. 50 in Stateline.
