El Bowlrrito skateboard competition returns to Tahoe’s Skatehouse
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with skateboarding and music at South Lake Tahoe’s Skatehouse Skate Park this weekend.
The indoor skate bowl will host El Bowlrrito Tres this Saturday, May 7. The skate competition features both amateur and pro competitors and is set to start at 11 a.m. The entrance fee for spectators is $10.
The competition is $20 to enter, will be held in a jam format and includes divisions covering a range of ages and ability levels. The competition will also feature a best-trick competition. Registration starts at 8 a.m.
El Bowlrrito Tres will include live music throughout the day and a pair of after-parties. Performing at the competition will be the Dammit Jims, Vegascendents, Protected Left, M Section, Broke Down Wasted and Vegas Threat. The first after-party for the competition will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at Brothers Bar and Grill and will feature music from Beercan!, M Section and the Shames. Brothers will also host an after-party with a performance by Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 8. Both shows are free.
Wayne released an album of cover songs last May.
“After six albums of all original music, Bob Wayne takes on some of the world’s biggest hits,” according to an announcement from the band. “There are no boundaries on ‘Hits The Hits.’ Wayne covers songs all the way from Rihanna to Led Zeppelin and Adele to The Offspring, adding his country roots spin while still including the classic Bob Wayne edge.”
The Skatehouse is located at 867 Eloise Ave., in South Lake Tahoe. Brothers Bar and Grill is located at 888 Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe.
