More than two dozen South Shore restaurants, breweries and wineries are set to take part in an annual celebration of food this weekend.

Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation’s Fall Food Festival runs from 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. The Fall Food Fest is the primary fundraiser for the foundation, which raises money for a variety of programs for Lake Tahoe Unified School District students. The nonprofit provided about $50,000 in enrichment grants to the school district last year.

Each of the participating restaurants will provide food samples at the event. Wine and beer, as well as silent and live auctions, are also part of the evening. Niall McGuinness and the New World Jazz Project will provide the musical accompaniment.

“It’s all generated by the community; that’s what really excites me,” said Nancy Rollston, chairperson for the event.

Tickets are $50 and are available at each school in the district, as well as at the door.

Close to 400 people typically attend the 11th annual event.

“It’s just a fun evening,” Rollston said.

Participating businesses include Alpen Sierra Coffee, Artemis Mediterranean Grill, Baja Fresh, Azul Latin Kitchen, Blue Angel Cafe, Cafe Fiore, The Cork & More, Coyote Grill, Don’s Bakery, Fasta Pasta, Tahoe High School Culinary Arts, MacDuff’s, Mo’s Place, Orchids, Riva Grill, Sonney’s BBQ Shack Bar & Grill, Sprouts Cafe, Steamers Bar & Grill, Sugar Pine Bakery, Tahoe Blue Vodka, Manana Tequila, Korbel and Thomas Fogarty Winery.
