Classic rock fans, here’s your next gig: Renowned genre frontrunners Grand Funk Railroad will perform on Tahoe’s South Shore this Saturday, Oct. 21.
“Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard-driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies,” states the group’s online biography.
The band — which formed in Flint, Michigan, in 1969 — performs its extensive catalog at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa at 8 p.m.
“Mega-hits ‘We’re An American Band,’ ‘I’m Your Captain/Closer To Home,’ ‘Locomotion’ and ‘Some Kind Of Wonderful’ still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio,” continues the bio.
Grand Funk Railroad is no stranger to the touring circuit, and has taken the stage in front of sell-out crowds throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Japan. According to the band’s bio, Grand Funk Railroad sold out Shea Stadium in New York faster than The Beatles in 1971.
“Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two No. One singles (‘We’re An American Band’ and ‘Locomotion,’ both selling more than one million each),” continues the bio.
This is a show you won’t want to miss.
Tickets for the gig, available through http://www.montbleuresort.com, cost $45 (plus tax and fees).
MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa is located at 55 U.S. 50 in Stateline.
