Local artist Shelley Zentner will be live painting the “Queen II” album cover on Saturday, Feb. 25 at California Burger Co. The event, which begins at 5 p.m., coincides with the One Night of Queen performance at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe that takes place at 7:30 p.m. on the same evening.

Located above California Burger Co. is a small loft where artists are able to paint in front of a webcam, which streams the painting process to a television screen in the restaurant’s bar.

Zentner, a professional artist and adjunct instructor at Lake Tahoe Community College, began painting in the loft with The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album cover. The inspiration to paint album covers came from the nature of California Burger Co. itself, which regularly hosts live musicians.

“As an art and music venue, it seemed a natural subject. The vinyl covers on the wall in the bathrooms reminded me how much I loved copying my parent’s album covers when I was a kid. These early attempts at drawing and painting eventually carried me towards my career as an artist,” Zentner said in a press release.

The artist moved to Lake Tahoe from Wales, where she opened her own gallery and studio. Zentner’s art has been published in multiple magazines, and is available for purchase through social media and the bar at California Burger Co.
