On Friday, March 17, head out to Stateline’s MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa for a concert you have to see: Lake Street Dive headlines the venue at 8 p.m.
“The initial idea in 2004 was for the group to create a ‘free country band’ — as in country music, played free. This concept was abandoned in favor of something that ‘actually sounded good,’ according to Mike Olson,” states the Tahoe South website.
Guitarist and trumpet player Olson is joined by lead vocalist Rachael Price, upright bassist Bridget Kearney and drummer Mike Calabrese. Together, the four make up Lake Street Dive.
“They met while attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. The band was named after a street with many dive bars in Olson’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota,” continues the release.
Lake Street Dive’s most recent album, “Side Pony,” debuted in February 2016 and features the hits “Call Off Your Dogs,” “Mistakes” and “I Don’t Care About You.”
“From its hairdo-inspired title on down, this quirky quartet’s second album embodies the exuberant, party-at-its-peak spirit of ‘Hairspray.’ Stax soul, ‘60s pop hooks and Motown momentum drive singing human dynamo Rachael Price and her super-tight, conservatory-trained crew,” states iTunes’ description of the record.
Tickets for the concert are available for $25-$30 via Ticketmaster. Learn more online at http://www.montbleuresort.com.
MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa is located at 55 U.S. 50.
