Bay Area musician Rain, who goes by the stage name Phutureprimitive, grew up playing the piano before discovering electronic music and beginning to DJ in the 1990s.
“That was all it took to trigger a full-blown love affair with electronic music and the process of its creation … and Phutureprimitive was born,” states a press release from Late-Nite Productions.
The artist has since released two full-length albums, one single and three EPs, the latest of which — “Searching for Beauty in the Darkest Places, Pt. 2” — dropped in November 2015.
“Phutureprimitive’s music is singular and unique in its approach. Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms, groove-heavy beats and warm, fuzzy bass lines.
“Often exploring a dark and dense palette, his music also manages to convey a sense of tranquility and beauty, engaging the listener into hypnotic movement and often escalating into a full-on kinetic experience,” continues the release.
Joining Phutureprimitive at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa on Saturday, April 1, is DJ duo Love and Light.
“Love and Light aims to break the mold of the dance music experience by providing a fresh and uplifting take on bass music,” continues the release.
Doors open at 9 p.m. for the 10 p.m. show.
Tickets are available in advance for $20 and climb to $25 on the day of the event. Visit http://www.montbleuresort.com to purchase and learn more.
