South Lake Tahoe’s Lavish Green to play Cinco de Mayo show
If you go
What: Lavish Green
When: 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5
Where: Rojo’s Tavern
South Shore’s Lavish Green is set to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at South Lake Tahoe’s Rojo’s Tavern.
The long-standing South Shore “rock with trumpet” group plays downstairs at the bar and restaurant Thursday, May 5.
Lavish Green frontman Chris Sanchez recently paid tribute to Prince and his impact on independent music the world over.
“Prince changed the entire globe with his genius abilities combined with his desire to make his creations solely,” according to a post on the band’s Facebook page. “He has made light on the fact that the industry does not have to have a stronghold on what we put out to the listeners of the world. As he will be missed forever he represents all of us in our quest to change the world little or big musically the way we choose to.
“Hopefully through Prince’s passing the industry will recognize that organic music needs to resurface,” Sanchez continued. “The artistic freedom and bands’ DNA need to be reborn to the music industry because its value to life on earth is priceless and not yet lost. We will always make the music we want, and I speak for more than my band; I speak for the real, free, creative artists of the planet. I, too, love that no one has been able to categorize our band of sound.”
Thursday’s show is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10. Food and drink specials will be offered for the show.
Rojo’s Tavern is located at 3091 Harrison Ave. More information is available at http://www.rojostavern.com by calling 530-541-4960.
