Opinion: Spring fever at the South Shore

Spring showers should equal a dusting of snow at higher elevations this weekend.

Despite the warm weather this week, it looks like there a little bit of rain is headed to the South Shore this weekend. You never really can tell with spring in the Sierra Nevada. Regardless, there are a host of events happening this week that should keep it lively rain or shine.

Here are a couple picks for this week at the South Shore:

JortS Jam

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will celebrate all things denim with the Jorts Jam 2016 this Saturday. With snow in the forecast at elevation, a Canadian Tuxedo (jeans and a jean jacket) may be more appropriate than jean shorts, so where what you will, it’s the whole point. The Americana music at this one should also be a good time.

Chris D’Elia

Anyone who makes fun of Justin Bieber is all right with me, and comedian Chris D’Elia is a pro at it. He counts “The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber” among his many TV credits. He brings his full stand-up routine to MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa this Saturday.

Dark Star Orchestra

The Dead lives on Sunday at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Dark Star Orchestra has played the songs of the Grateful Dead and played them well for almost 20 years. This relatively inexpensive show should be a great way to cap off the weekend.
