Sample the Sierra to feature farm-to-fork
On Labor Day weekend, Sample the Sierra will add a competitive edge to the food and wine festival with the introduction of a new award called the Best Tasting Experience.
Attendees will vote for the booth with the favorite flavorful creation that includes fresh ingredients prepared by a local chef or restaurant representative, paired with regional wine, beer or spirits. The booth with the most votes will be awarded the Best Tasting Experience of 2014.
Lake Tahoe’s only farm-to-fork festival celebrates its fifth anniversary on Aug. 31 at Bijou Community Park in South Lake Tahoe. From noon to 4 p.m, Tastings end at 4 p.m,, but the fun continues until 5 p.m. with live music from local talent. There is also an opportunity to peruse a marketplace of local handmade goods. The one-day festival will be preceded by ancillary events including a pop-up dinner and farm-to-fork bus tour through El Dorado County.
Sample the Sierra is presented in partnership with TahoeChamber, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and El Dorado County. Sample the Sierra is made possible through the support of sponsors.
Tickets and lodging packages are available for Sample the Sierra at http://www.samplethesierra.com. Tickets cost $30 through July 31 and $40 Aug. 1 to 31. Vendor opportunities are available.
