V-Day returns to South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — V-Day South Lake Tahoe is getting ready for the benefit performance of the Vagina Monologues March 6 as part of a global activist movement that aims to end violence against women and girls. This year’s effort will also include the Sex Show 2015 hosted Friday.

The March 6 performance will feature Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues and aims to raise funds for Live Violence Free, Tahoe Youth and Family Services and Zawadisha.

The event marks the 13th year the Vagina Monologues comes to South Lake Tahoe. The cast is made up of a group of community members that includes students, mothers, daughters, new and seasoned performers. The movement also intends to raise funds and awareness to help educate people about the reality of violence against women.

The event will take place at Lake Tahoe Golf Course at 2500 Emerald Bay Road from 6:30 p.m. to midnight. It will include a wine tasting for $5 and a tapas pairing for an additional $20. Tickets for the Vagina Monologues performance are $20 and are available at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-vagina-monologues-south-lake-tahoe-tickets-15193687729.

The Sex Show 2015 will consist of four contestants, Elliot Johnson Smart, Justine Whitney, Dan Kramer and Betsy Thyfault, who will compete head-to-head in a Jeopardy-style sex education game show. The topics will include sexual health, sexual enjoyment, sexually transmitted diseases and a variety of other sexual topics. The show will take place at 9 p.m. on Friday at The Divided Sky on Highway 50 in Meyers. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.
