UPDATE: 96 Liberty Utilities customers in Tahoe City still without power

 UPDATE 4:15 p.m.

While service has been restored to most of the approximately 1,500 Liberty Utilities customers who lost power Wednesday morning, 96 will remain without it through midnight.

According to an update form Liberty, there is a bad underground cable in Tahoe City that needs to be replaced. Crews will work through the night but power is not expected to be restored to those customers until midnight.

Approximately 1,500 Liberty Utilities customers are without power in Tahoe City, according to a spokeswoman.

The outage number was valid as of 11 a.m. Wednesday. Personnel were out patrolling the line in order to find the cause of the outage, Liberty spokeswoman Kathy Carter said in an email just before noon.

An estimate for when services might be restored was not provided.
