2 Torch Clubs keeping busy

Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe sponsors two clubs for youth that help make the community a good place and help build character and leadership skills. Torch Club is for boys and girls 12 and up and is designed for teens to help with services for the club and community. Torch Club Jr. is for youths 8 to 11, who also do many things for the community.

Torch Club, which has 13 members, will be participating in various fund-raisers and community events throughout the summer and into the school year. Among the events is a talent show scheduled for Aug. 31 that is open to the public. Tickets are $2 per person. Club members will display talents including singing, dancing, comedy and skits such as “Grease.”

Torch Club Jr. has some new programs. The 22 members plan events such as removing trash, raising money, helping seniors, recycling, and making the world a better place. Club members said they have many fun things to do.
