Thirty-five local children enjoyed the Salvation Army Camp at Camp Del Oro, Colfax, Calif., with a week of outdoor cabin living, good food, swimming and all the camp activities.

When all the children piled into the bus on June 24, most had never been to camp and had little idea what to expect. They arrived back home with big grins, happy memories and lots of dirty clothes. Everyone reported a great time.

The camp is conducted by the Salvation Army, headquartered in Sacramento. It is intended to provide a quality experience for children who might otherwise not be able to go to camp. Working to help were volunteers from the Family Resource Center, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center and Christmas Cheer. The trip was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 795 and assisted by Women of the Moose and Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra.
