A summer treat for basketball fans: South Tahoe Shootout

South Tahoe’s basketball club will host the annual South Tahoe Shootout on Thursday through Sunday.

Judge Memorial of Salt Lake City will tangle with South Tahoe at 6 p.m. Thursday. South Tahoe is also scheduled to play Palm Desert at 7 p.m. Friday, three opponents on Saturday and Damonte Ranch of Reno at noon Sunday. On Saturday, South Tahoe will meet Oakland at 9 a.m., Campolindo at 3 p.m. and Foothill at 5 p.m.

Other teams entered in the four-day tournament are Juan Diego, Carson, Bishop Manogue, Woodbridge, Bishop O’Dowd, Jesuit, Highland and St. Mary’s.

“It’s a solid group, a lot of talent coming this way, especially with the Utah schools and Bishop O’Dowd,” said South Tahoe coach Chris Proctor.

Proctor said South Tahoe’s opening game against Judge Memorial gives his team a firsthand look at a disciplined program.

“I like to play against the Utah schools because they are so disciplined. Those teams know their game,” he said.

Admission is free.
