‘A Toast to Twain’ to benefit library

Submitted to the Tribune

Friends of the Library will host “A Toast to Twain” at South Lake Tahoe library on Sunday.

The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. The evening will include fine wines, appetizers, a silent auction and the talents of McAvoy Layne, the noted Mark Twain impressionist. It is being held in honor of Twain’s 178th birthday and will also celebrate the publication of the much anticipated Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 2. Layne’s projects include a major role in Nevada’s Sesquicentennial and developing a distance learning platform for living history in the classroom.

The evening will benefit the library. Money will be used to purchase new books and other resources. Tickets cost $40 and are available for purchase at the library through Oct. 30. For tickets, call 530-573-3185 or visit the South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.
