A trio of Tahoe-themed top spots to check out after a day on the mountain

Now that ski and snowboard season is officially underway, it's time to round up the best après-adventure spots to check out after a long day on the mountain — after all, unwinding after mass amounts of physical exertion is the key to making it through the rest of your stay in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

But not everyone has the same interests. Whether you're simply looking to grab a drink, searching for a family-friendly spot to grab a bite with the kids, or something in between, there's something out there for you.

We have suggestions for every type of Tahoe thrill-seeker.

The Drinks-Only

It is no secret that the local craft beer scene has been growing exponentially in recent months — which means that those on the lookout for the newest draught trends have plenty of options.

Incline Village-based Alibi Ale Works (204 E. Enterprise St.) recently opened a taproom in Truckee (10069 Bridge St.), bringing their drinks (made with pure Lake Tahoe water) to yet another spot on North Shore.

South Lake Brewing Company, meanwhile, opened on the opposite side of the lake (1920 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe) in spring 2017. Offering a beer garden-type atmosphere and multiple rotating craft drinks, the brewery also welcomes children and well-behaved dogs on leashes.

Also in South Lake Tahoe, the Coachman Hotel (4100 Pine Blvd.) embodies a hipster vibe and features a bar that is open to the public. A mix of modern and natural décor, the ambiance of the establishment creates the perfect spot to relax after a packed day.

The Family

For the families looking to continue high-energy fun, Heavenly Village (1001 Heavenly Village Way, South Lake Tahoe) is a perfect spot to go. From shops and restaurants to live music, this location has nearly everything. The village is also home to an ice rink, movie theater and The Loft, a live entertainment theater that hosts daily magic shows and more.

Another bustling hub that offers something for all ages is Ski Run Marina (900 Ski Run Blvd., South Lake Tahoe). Found right on the water, the area includes popular eateries such as Riva Grill (American cuisine) and Artemis Lakefront Café (top-notch Mediterranean food), a gelato joint, and — of course — places to grab souvenirs.

Cold Water Brewery and Grill (2544 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe) has something for adults and kids: What more could you need than craft beer and American food? Similarly, Lake Tahoe AleWorX's (2050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe) self-service taproom concept and wood-fired pizzas make for a place that will satisfy all ages.

For those coming off the hill at Northstar California Resort in Truckee, check out Rubicon Pizza Company in the Village at Northstar (5001 Northstar Drive, Truckee) — the menu includes traditional picks like Hawaiian and pepperoni, but also features unique pies like the Blanco (garlic sauce, chicken breast, red onions, bacon and a four-cheese blend).

The Upscale

South Lake Tahoe's The Lake House (1181 Emerald Bay Road), which opened in fall 2016, offers a quality, diverse menu. The high-end meals range from duck and trout to chicken marsala and lamb chops. While the dishes cost a pretty penny, the taste will be worth it.

In Stateline, Chart House (392 Kingsbury Grade Road) is another spot to consider for a classy evening. The restaurant boasts a variety of both seafood and steak, such as salmon, swordfish and filet mignon. It also boasts a decent view of the lake.

If you're staying in Stateline, convenient spots for similar cuisine are Friday's Station and Ciera Steak & Chophouse, located at Harrah's Lake Tahoe and MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, respectively.

On the North Shore, Petra (found at Northstar California Resort) is a Mediterranean-themed eatery that also hosts many varietals of wine.

These are just a fraction of the different places you and the family can check out in Tahoe and Truckee. Regardless of where you choose to spend time after the mountain, you won't leave disappointed.
