Accident kills one, leaves two injured

by Gregory Crofton

A 47-year-old man died and a woman was seriously injured after being ejected from 1987 red Acura Wednesday at 8 a.m.

Nevada Highway Patrol said both people were not wearing seat belts when the two-door Acura they were traveling in rolled off the side of Interstate 80 about 20 miles east of Fernley.

The car was headed east before it drifted off the right edge of the road and the driver overcorrected, crossed both lanes, entered a median and went down an embankment, NHP said.

A helicopter transported 42-year-old Michelle Bryant to Washoe Medical Center with serious injuries.

The 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity is being with held until family members are notified of his death.

It is still not clear who was driving the Acura, NHP said.
