William Ferchland, Tahoe Daily Tribune

Elizabeth Brandt, a 64-year-old woman from Glenbrook, Nev., was identified as the victim of a solo fatal car crash that occurred near Cave Rock on Wednesday.

Brandt was driving her gray 1994 Toyota 4-Runner eastbound in the left lane on Highway 50 when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the right lane and rode up a rocky embankment, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.

The car traveled 200 feet through the embankment before striking a large boulder. Brandt’s car overturned and came to a rest on its left side in the eastbound lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m.

Brandt, who wore a seat belt at the time of the crash, was the Early Intervention service coordinator at South Lake Tahoe.
