Aces complete first series sweep of season

RENO – Chris Rahl tied a season high with four hits, as Reno completed a series sweep over the Nashville Sounds with a 7-4 victory Saturday night in front of 7,297 fans at Aces Ballpark.

Reno jumped ahead early, taking a 5-0 lead after four innings, and held on to complete its first series sweep of the 2010 season. A two-run single by Rahl capped a four-run fourth inning for the Aces, who gave starter Zack Kroenke (4-3) all the run support he needed. Reno tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and sixth, and the bullpen limited Nashville to just one run over the final four innings to preserve the victory.

Kroenke earned the win, tossing five innings of three-run ball. Jason Urquidez and Leyson Septimo recorded holds before Carlos Rosa shut the door in the ninth for his sixth save.

Sam Narron (7-5) was tagged with the loss after the Aces roughed him up for five earned runs in four innings.

In addition to Rahl’s four-hit night, Cole Gillespie added three hits and an RBI. Brandon Allen reached base four times for Reno, going 1 for 1 with a double and three walks.
