Action-packed LTUSD agenda

The Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board will tackle an action-packed agenda Tuesday.

The issues range from school calendars to board appointments. Here is what the board will be discussing:

– The board will discuss timelines and procedures for appointing a replacement for board member Angela Swanson, who has resigned. The appointed member would hold a seat on the board until the November election. Swanson’s last meeting is Tuesday.

Voters will choose someone to fill seats now held by Swanson and board President Wendy David in November.

– The school year might start earlier in 2010-11. Instead of starting after Labor Day, school would begin August 30, 2010.

– The board will discuss the California state special election and how it would affect the district’s budget. The election was authorized by the state legislature and the governor as part of the signed budget. Voters will decided on six ballot propositions on May 19.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd. For more information, call (530) 541-2850.
