Adam Jensen: Plenty of ways to play at Lake Tahoe

With new snow at Lake Tahoe, snowshoeing (and sliding) is rounding into mid-season form.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Lake Tahoe, and snow is the gift that has kept on giving so far this winter. This weekend could be the last before the holiday rush really sets in, so get out and enjoy it. Whether on the slopes or in the club, there’s plenty going on. Here are some picks for the weekend:

Cheap Trick

There’s not much to say about this long-running band that hasn’t been said already, but members were announced as inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this week, and their victory lap just happens to include a stop at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Saturday. Should be a spirited showing from a band that’s made a career of them. More information on the show is available on page 6.

Go Snowshoeing

The snow base is building, opening up all kinds of avenues to get outside, from skiing to snowmobiling. A good, old-fashioned walk is another great option for a little exercise and some spectacular views. Always be prepared before you go out, and be aware of changing weather conditions, but have fun. More tips can be found on page 15.

Ugly SweaterS

Nothing exudes the holiday spirit quite like an ugly sweater party. One this weekend at the South Shore will have the unique addition of heavy-metal backing. South Shore’s Idekay headlines this Saturday show. The venue, Lakeview Loft, also has an impressive space above Dart Beverage Center. It’s worth checking out. More information on page 11.
