Adam Jensen: Take a snow day to celebrate the season
Winter is here, and hopefully you’ve had the opportunity to get out on the slopes. It’s still extremely early along in the 2015-16 season, but the gettin’ has been pretty good. Off-piste terrain is spotty, but the groomers are ripe for getting your legs under you before the season gets going in earnest. With the start of the ski season comes a host of winter events and activities to take part in between turns. Here are some picks for this weekend at Lake Tahoe:
A free funk show seems like the start to a great holiday weekend, and Reno’s Mojo Green provides just the opportunity. The group has already received critical accolades over its relatively short lifetime. Mojo Green plays Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe Friday night. Read more on page 8.
Black Star Safari
This South Shore duo always put on a good show. They’ve been casting their net wider these days, playing shows around the region, but you can catch them right here in their hometown at Steamers Bar & Grill Saturday night. More info on page 9.
Play in the snow
Even if you don’t make it out to the ski resorts, there should be material enough for snow angels, snowmen and sledding this week. Stay safe, and soak it up. Snow is fun, and it should be a great weekend to enjoy it.
