Advisory committee meets this month

The committee in charge of making recommendations for how to spend federal funding on Lake Tahoe will meet at North Shore this month.

The Lake Tahoe Basin Federal Advisory Committee will meet Jan. 18 at the North Tahoe Conference Center from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The center is at 8318 North Lake Blvd., Kings Beach. All meetings are open to the public.

The committee will address federal activities at Lake Tahoe, including an update on Round 7 of the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, followed by a public comment period.

Each year, Lake Tahoe receives a portion of funds generated through sales of public land in Southern Nevada through the Act.

The committee consists of 20 members representing a variety of constituencies.

The public may make comments at the meeting or by filing a written statement with the committee through Arla Hains, USDA-Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA, 96150.
