Allan Munro identified as victim of Monitor Pass accident

MINDEN, Nev. – A Canadian motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon on Monitor Pass in a head-on collision with a passenger vehicle.

Allan H. Munro, 39, of Edmonton, Alberta, was identified as the victim of the accident by the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office.

Munro was northbound on Highway 89 at about 4 p.m. when he crossed into the opposite lane and into the path of a Subaru WRX driven by a Mountain View, Calif., resident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Munro was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is investigating the accident. Alpine County is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Neither of the two occupants of the Subaru were injured in the accident.

The highway was closed until about 7:30 p.m.
