METAIRIE, La. – Brandon Allen’s 23rd home run and a three-run eighth inning helped Reno continue its second-half surge, as the Aces rolled past the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-4 on Sunday night at Zephyr Field.

The victory marks Reno’s fourth straight overall, and their season-high third straight on the road.

The Aces and Zephyrs traded leads through the first six frames, heading to the seventh with the game knotted at 4-4. After a 29-minute rain delay halted play, the Aces came back firing, posting three runs in the eighth to unlock the tie and put Reno ahead for good.

Josh Collmenter went six innings for the Aces, allowing four runs – three earned – on six hits with nine strikeouts. Jose Marte (3-2) was outstanding out of the bullpen, tossing three scoreless frames to finish the proceedings and collect the victory.

Sunday’s loss fell to New Orleans reliever Matt Peterson (3-1), who was charged with all three eighth-inning tallies.

At the dish, Allen put the Aces on the board for the first time with a solo homer to straightaway center field, his team-leading 23rd of the season. Allen, Chris Rahl, Tony Abreu, Ed Rogers and Collmenter all finished with two hits on the night. Rahl and Abreu knocked in two runs apiece.
