COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Brandon Allen smashed a two-run home run in the 10th inning Friday night, snapping a tie ballgame and pushing the Reno Aces to an 8-6 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in the series finale at Security Service Field.

The Aces pushed a run across in the ninth to force extra frames, and Allen made sure the effort didn’t go for naught, crushing an Edgmer Escalona 3-1 offering deep over the wall in right to put Reno ahead by two. Jordan Norberto came on in the bottom half of the 10th and slammed the door, earning his second save and forcing a series split.

Reno starter Matt Torra dealt yet another quality start, scattering three runs over six innings, though he did not figure into the decision. Blaine Boyer (1-0) blew a save, but earned the victory, his first in an Aces’ uniform.

The loss fell to Escalona (1-1), who surrendered Allen’s blast in the 10th.
