Amador County man dies in solo accident
A 54-year-old Pioneer man was killed when his motorcycle hit a guardrail off Highway 89 in Woodfords on Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene from severe head and neck injuries.
A witness told officers the rider was seen traveling north at a high rate of speed when his 1995 Suzuki went down, sliding 200 feet. The accident occurred in front of the Woodfords Inn near Barker Road.
The authorities are awaiting results of a toxicology report to determine whether alcohol was involved, CHP Sgt. Sean Patton said.
