Anderson takes silver at Winter X Games
Jenny Jones delivered the winning score on her final chance, denying South Lake Tahoe’s Jamie Anderson her third women’s snowboard slopestyle title at the Winter X Games on Sunday in Aspen, Colo.
Anderson led the eight-competitor field through two runs after scoring 89.33 on her first run. But Jones was able to repeat as the event’s champion by recording a score of 92.66 on her last opportunity.
“It feels great, it really does,” Jones said as the smile on her face extended from ear-to-ear. “It is a totally different experience this time because my knee was so sore and everything. I didn’t really think I was going to get anywhere, so I am still a little bit in shock that I came in first.”
The 19-year-old Anderson put together a strong field run, including a clean effort in the jib garden, but couldn’t cleanly land her final jump. Anderson praised Jones’ effort.
“Jenny rode really well and as did Janna,” Anderson said. “To try the cab 900 is really impressive. No girl has ever done that trick, so definite respect to her.”
Four-time winner Jana Meyen-Weatherby finished third at 75.66.
