Animal Ark fund-raiser set
Michelle Clark, Junior Miss Lake Tahoe 2001, is acting as a junior animal ambassador volunteer with the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. One of her first duties is to participate in the Tahoe’s Animal Ark event, which will take place April 1 aboard the Tahoe Queen. The Ark will board at 5:30 p.m. at Ski Run Marina and cruise from 6 to 8 p.m.
Clark won her title based on several tests and her platform of “Spaying and Neutering Pets to Reduce Killing Surplus Animals.” The 12-year-old middle school student will be handing out information on the benefits of spaying and neutering pets and local assistance programs through the Lake Tahoe Humane Society.
Tickets for the Animal Ark cruise are $30 per person in advance and are available for purchase from Hornblower Lake Tahoe Cruises at (530) 544-7676 or the the Lake Tahoe Humane Society at (530) 577-4521. Credit card orders can be taken by phone. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box PET, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96158.
The benefit is the major local effort for helping to fund the 100 percent donation-supported animal shelter operated by the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. The society-owned facility is being staffed and is scheduled to open in March, prior to the Tahoe’s Animal Ark 2001 benefit.
Only 450 tickets will be sold to assure a fun, comfortable evening. The event will include food and wine sampling, live music including the Sierra Strings, live and silent auctions, a raffle and a surprise gift for all guests.
McCall Realty, a new sponsor, joins Hornblower Lake Tahoe Cruises and Caesars Tahoe to provide the Tahoe Queen (AKA “Animal Ark”,) a celebrity guest captain and most-wanted auction and raffles items such as autographed celebrity memorabilia, fine art and travel packages. A complete array of donations from premium sports equipment to personal services will be featured.
Celebrating 34 years of continuous service to the Greater Lake Tahoe community of California and Nevada, the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. provides a full range of programs related to companion animals, all under the umbrella theme of “Keep Tahoe Kind.” The Tahoe’s Animal Ark benefit is the major local effort for supporting the 100 percent donation-dependent private animal shelter. There is no national agency or government organization to help.
