Animal Coalition to throw winter party

Provided to the Tribune

The Animal Coalition of Tahoe has scheduled its third annual Winter Party from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Riva Grill.

Come to the first party of the new year and enjoy music from DJ Donna and Riva’s great appetizers. Admission is $25 per person and includes one free drink (either beer, wine or soft drink). Tickets for spectacular prizes will be available for $5 each or $10 or three. Prizes include a one-week stay at any RCI resort property valued at $2,000 donated by the Stardust Vacation Club and a complete ski or snowboard package including skis or snowboard, bindings and poles valued at $500.

ACT was established in January 2004 as a nonprofit, all-volunteer corporation with the goal of raising funds to support a low-cost spay-neuter program. ACT also donates 10 percent of funds raised to the El Dorado County Animal Shelter in Meyers, which so far has been used to purchase 10 Kurada beds, groom gift certificates, adoption kits, and other supplies to keep the animals more comfortable and to facilitate adoptions.

ACT is looking forward to its third year of operation and is planning some new programs:

— A membership program will be designed to enable the public to become more aware of ACT’s activities.

— Discussions are under way with El Dorado County to determine how ACT can assist with the animal shelter renovation project.

— An emergency veterinary assistance fund will be explored.
