Annual Blessing of the Boats set for Sunday

The South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club annual Blessing of the Boats will take place on Sunday at Camp Richardson Marina. The club members will organize their boats at 9:45 a.m. in the Tahoe Keys.

The boats will move onto the lake at about 10 a.m. and proceed to the Camp Richardson Marina for the Blessing of the Boats by the Rev. John Grace, a member of the yacht club.

Members of the public who are interested in having their boats blessed are invited to join at the end of the line as it passes through the mouth of the keys.

A Yacht Club membership drive is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. at the yacht clubhouse, located in the old boat house next to the Beacon at the Camp Richardson Marina. All members, guests and prospective members are welcome to join. This event is open to the boating public who may be interested in learning more about the South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club and the many activities it offers its their members. Appetizers, soft drinks, coffee and tea will be provided.

The club’s newly published recipe book, “Our Favorite Recipes,” will be available at the event for a $20 donation. Proceeds benefit CASA, Boy & Girls Club and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center. The books can also be obtained at Top Drawer Gift Shop in the Raley’s Center at Stateline, and Lakeside Landing ll at 4039 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
