Annual community tree and menorah lighting set for Dec. 4

The annual South Lake Tahoe Community Tree and Menorah Lighting will feature appearances by Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their elves as well as free Borges sleigh and carriage rides.

The annual event, hosted by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Visitors Center, 3066 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

The festivities will also include a Pony Express Christmas card ride. Bring your holiday card addressed with regular postage and horse-drawn delivery will take the message from Folsom to Old Sacramento, hand canceled with a Pony Express and U.S. Postal Service commemorative stamp and then mailed to the recipient.



There will be music by Derek Tarpey, Lake DJ and carols sung by Tahoe Schools Choir. Complimentary hot chocolate, cider and cookies will be served. A food and toy drive will benefit Christmas Cheer.
