Ignacio Novoagomez turned himself in to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on Aug. 11, said Detective Pierre Herring.

Novoagomez is being held in El Dorado County jail in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of attempted murder, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Web site.

Herring declined to comment on why Novoagomez turned himself in.

Police arrested a South Lake Tahoe man on Aug. 11 on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl he had picked up at an area grocery store the previous day, said South Lake Tahoe police Lt. Marty Hale.

Stephen Henderson, 27, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. at a residence on Glenwood Way for the suspected rape of a Bay Area girl who was on vacation with a friend and the friend’s mother, said Lt. Marty Hale.

The girl had gone to an unspecified store to buy some food on Monday evening and met a group of men, including Henderson, according to Hale.

The girl – who had been drinking and was very intoxicated – agreed to leave the store with men and go to where they were staying, Hale said.

Between midnight and 2 a.m. on Aug. 11, Henderson allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the girl, Hale said.

The mother of the girl’s friend reported the girl missing about 2 a.m. on Aug. 11 and police officers located the girl walking back to her hotel sometime that morning, Hale said.

Henderson remained in custody at the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of raping a drugged victim, oral copulation, sexual perpetration by foreign object and participating in a lewd act on a child, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Web site.
