Genoa will kick off the new year with the Antiques in Winter antique show and sale that includes an appraisal clinic. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Town Hall, Genoa, Nev.

The show will bring many of the areas most sought after antiques and dealers. Admission is $1 and benefits the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra. Search your attic for all your treasures to have appraised at only $5 per item, with no limit on the number of items you bring.

Visitors to the show can discover the past with the Genoa Walking Tour Map. This self-guided tour has a good selected of historic sites and architectural styles. The map was prepared by local historian, Nancy Miluck. She will answer questions about Genoa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.

Vendors will be selling everything from country primitives to rare books, timepieces, textiles, art Victorian glass and furniture as well as “kitch.”

When touring the town everyone is welcome to stop in at Genoa Antiques next to the Oldest Bar in the state and Antiques Plus and the Dake House Emporium next to the new Genoa Post Office. Antiques Plus is housed in a historic carriage house and the Dake House is one of Genoa’s oldest haunted houses. This shop is like stepping back in time to 1870.

Everyone should be sure to sign up for the fabulous door prizes donated by Genoa merchants.
