Artist to lead three-day workshop at June Lake
Gardnerville artist Teri Sweeney will be teaching a three-day watercolor workshop at June Lake, Calif., Oct. 10-12. The trip will include a stop in Bodie to photograph some of the local history and learn about taking photographs for painting references.
Sweeney, who has been teaching weekly classes in the Gardnerville/Minden area for the past five years, has also taken students to other locations including Sedona, Ariz., and Kauai, Hawaii, to learn about painting landscapes both en plein air (outdoors) and in the studio. She has also been traveling the west showing her landscapes and western art at such including the CM Russell Auction in Great Falls, Mont., the San Dimas Festival of the Arts in San Dimas, Calif., and the Cattlemen’s Western Art Sale and Show in Paso Robles, Calif. Her art is described as detailed representational and, although she works mainly in watercolor, she also produces work in oils and pastels. Her paintings can be viewed at http://www.tsart.org.
The workshop will be held at the Double Eagle Lodge in June Lake and will include both plein air and studio painting. The cost of the workshop is $180 plus $200 for two nights lodging.
