Artist to unveil new work

Provided to the Tribune. Artist Peter Darvas will unveil new oil paintings and giclees July 21 at Art for the Home Gallery. The show will continue through July 31.

Tahoe summer resident and famed painter E. Peter Darvas will unveil new original paintings and newly published, limited-edition giclees from 6 to 8 p.m. July 21 at Art for the Home Gallery at the Ski Run Marina. The show will run through July 31.

In addition to painting the majestic Sierra Nevada region, Darvas frequently travels and paints in Europe, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Mexico, where he has a winter home. Raised in Texas, the artist most enjoys warm weather where he can sail and paint picturesque regions. Frequent scenes in his work include Alpine landscapes, pastoral countrysides, tropical seascapes and flower-covered villas.

Saturday’s opening will also feature California-based bronze sculptor Burke Rutherford. Focusing on the subjects of wildlife and native peoples, Rutherford sculpts in fine detail and adds colored elements of foliage, water and mountain slopes to create a landscape for each piece.
