Artist’s silk paintings on display at Heavenly on July 4

"Emerald of the Sierra II" will be among the silk paintings Addie Chernus will display Wednesday at galleries in Heavenly Village.

Addie Chernus and her silk paintings will be hosted by the Wyland and Oh My Godard Galleries in Heavenly Village from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Chernus’ silk paintings will be on display and she will demonstrate her colorful techniques of painting on silk. Refreshments will be served. Come by and join the fun.

Chernus’ silk art has been exhibited and published at a national level including a silk painting shown in the Smithsonian Museum. She has been active teaching work shops around the USA and silk art at Lake Tahoe Community College. She teaches silk painting workshops for Tahoe Art League. She has been a mural painter, helped create the Lake Tahoe Festival of Fine Arts, and painted a six-foot bear for Tahoe Visitors Authority. Chernus is the advertising manager of Silk Painters International. Her love of silk art and fabric has led her to push others to new levels of understanding and creativity.
