Homewood Mountain Resort plays host to the 34th annual Arts and Crafts With a View from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Aug. 15-17.

The resort is off Highway 89, 10 miles southwest of Tahoe City. The free event showcases the work of 50 artists, including paintings, glasswork, photography, ceramics, jewelry, clothing and more.

Among them are Julie and Dennis Johnson of Shingle Springs, who create colorful glass sculptures of castles, trees, horses and more by applying pure gold to molten glass. Every piece is a handmade original, and the couple sell their creations only at art shows nationwide.
