Police are looking for two men in connection with an attack on a 55-year-old South Lake Tahoe man in front of Embassy Suites-Resort Lake Tahoe at Stateline.

Siddeshawar Kartan, 55, was hit in the face by one of the men about 5:30 a.m. Sunday and dropped to the sidewalk unconscious. A surveillance video shows the punch lifted Kartan off his feet, said South Lake Tahoe Police Detective Martin Hale.

“There was no robbery, no provocation or anything,” Hale said. “For no reason at all the guy swings his right fist and lays the guy out.”

Kartan was transported from Barton Memorial Hospital to Washoe Medical Center because doctors worried his head injury caused bleeding in his brain. The fear was unfounded and Kartan was released from Washoe on Sunday afternoon.

Police want to talk to two men captured on video leaving Harrah’s Lake Tahoe around the time of the assault.

Kartan described his attacker as a white man, 6 feet tall, stocky, with long dark hair and an apparent limp. Anyone with information is asked to call (530) 541-6800 or (530) 542-6100.
