At least five Tahoe fire agencies respond to Southern Cal wildfires

Staff report

Five fire trucks from various agencies around the Lake Tahoe Basin are responding to the wildfires raging out of control in Southern California.

Fully-outfitted teams from Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department, Lake Valley Fire Protection District, North Lake Tahoe and Northstar have been called up to fight the massive fires, which have forced the evacuation of more than 250,000 people.

In South Lake Tahoe, a unit has replaced the outgoing truck so there will be no deficiency in coverage here, said Lorenzo Gigliotti, South Lake Tahoe fire chief.
