Author Todd James Pierce, poet Bart Edelman at LTCC tonight

The Lake Tahoe Community College Writers’ Series will present a reading, conversation and booksigning tonight with fiction writer Todd James Pierce and poet Bart Edelman. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the LTCC library.

There will be refreshments, and books will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public.

Edelman is a professor English at Glendale College, where he edits Eclipse, a literary journal. His work has appeared in many anthologies and textbooks. He teaches workshops across the United States and was poet-in-residence at Monroe College of the State University of New York. His poetry collections include “Crossing the Hackensack,” “Under Damaris’ Dress,” “The Alphabet of Love,” “The Gentle Man” and “The Last Mojto.”

Joan Didion selected Pierce and his book “Newsworld,” as winner of the 2006 Drue Heinz Literature Prize. He also is the author of the novel “The Australia Stories,” later republished under the title “A Woman of Stone,” and a writing textbook, “Behind the Short Story.”
